Greater Accra shine as Elite U15 Boys Colts Championship kicks off in style

The 2026 Elite U15 Boys Colts Championship burst into life on Friday at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, with Greater Accra delivering one of the most impressive performances as the tournament got underway.

The opening day of the third edition featured eight matches across two pitches, offering an early glimpse of the exciting young talent assembled under FIFA's Talent Development Scheme (TDS).

Regional teams and elite academies battled fiercely for early momentum in a competition designed to identify and nurture the country's next generation of football stars.

On Pitch 1, Western Region made a strong start by defeating Eastern Region 2-0. Elite Academy, represented by Bolgatanga SHS, also began their campaign positively with a hard-earned 1-0 victory over Ashanti Region.

The afternoon fixtures continued to produce competitive contests. Elite Academy, represented by Achimota SHS, secured a comfortable 2-0 win against Volta Region, while Northern Region edged Western Region 1-0 in a closely fought encounter.

Pitch 2 witnessed equally entertaining action. Elite Academy, represented by Prempeh College, opened with a convincing 2-0 triumph over Upper West Region.

However, the standout display came from Greater Accra, who swept aside Brong Ahafo Region with a commanding 3-0 victory to underline their credentials early in the tournament.

Central Region also impressed later in the day, defeating Upper East Region 3-0. Ashanti Region responded well to their opening setback, bouncing back with a narrow 1-0 win over Eastern Region.

With goals, disciplined performances and several emerging talents catching the eye, the championship has already laid the foundation for an exciting competition.
