World Cup 2026: 'It is a joy to be here' – Morgan Rogers savouring first World Cup experience ahead of Ghana clash
· GhanaSoccernetEngland midfielder Morgan Rogers has described the atmosphere within the Three Lions camp as "seamless" and "a joy" as the team prepares to begin their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign against Croatia on Wednesday, June 17.
The 22-year-old, who is competing at an international tournament for the first time in his career, opened up about the unity within the squad on England's Lions' Den Show – a sentiment that mirrored earlier comments from teammate Jude Bellingham.
"We are really aligned, and it is really easy and seamless for anyone to fit in the group. Wherever you are from, wherever you play, ages – it doesn't matter in this group. It is a joy to be here," Rogers said.
Rogers, who starred in Aston Villa's Europa League triumph and helped the club secure a fourth-place finish in the Premier League, is expected to play a supporting role as England chase World Cup glory.
After facing Croatia, England will turn their attention to Ghana on June 23 in Boston, followed by Panama on June 27. The Black Stars fixture carries particular significance, as Ghana will be looking to upset their former colonial masters on the global stage.
For Rogers, the focus remains on the group's collective strength.
"Anyone can fit in. That's the beauty of this group."
With England among the tournament favourites, the Three Lions will be expected to progress from Group L.
But Rogers and his teammates know that respect for opponents — including Ghana — will be key to a deep run in North America.
