'The points at stake are so so important' – Hearts of Oak coach Didi Dramani prioritises Super Clash victory
· GhanaSoccernetHearts of Oak head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has underlined the enormous significance of Sunday's Super Clash against Asante Kotoko, insisting that the three points on offer are crucial to his side's title aspirations.
Speaking to the club's media ahead of the highly anticipated fixture at Kumasi's Baba Yara Stadium, Dramani made it clear that while the rivalry speaks for itself, the league implications cannot be overstated.
"Matches involving Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, devoid of the standards – everybody knows the importance of it," Dramani acknowledged. "More importantly, we want to keep the pressure on the league leaders, and so the points at stake is so so important to us."
Hearts currently sit fourth in the Ghana Premier League standings with 36 points, just one point ahead of fifth-placed Kotoko. League leaders Medeama SC hold a commanding 43 points, but a victory in Kumasi would keep the Phobians firmly in the hunt.
"We are very focused in terms of what to do in order to be able to achieve that standard of gaining three points," Dramani added.
Sunday's clash carries added weight following a turbulent week for Kotoko, who saw head coach Abdul Karim Zito resign after a poor run of results. He has since been replaced on an interim basis by Prince Yaw Owusu.
For Dramani and his Hearts side, the equation is simple. The occasion is big. The rivalry is real. But the points—those three precious points—are everything.
