Karim Zito insists he wants to stay at Kotoko despite mounting calls for his dismissal

Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has made it clear that he is committed to staying with the club, even as calls for his sacking grow louder amid inconsistent results.

Zito addressed the pressure surrounding his tenure, emphasizing his belief in the team and his desire to experience future success with the club firsthand.

The experienced coach has faced heightened scrutiny following Kotoko’s elimination from the FA Cup at home against Aduana FC in the round of 16.

Despite the disappointment, Zito expressed confidence that success will eventually come, both for him and the team.

“At this moment, the results are not coming, and nobody is happy. But I am confident that success will come for any coach who takes over. I only wish to stay and experience it myself,” he told Akoma FM.

Zito also addressed the fairness of the criticism, pointing to challenges the team has faced this season, including injuries and a difficult schedule. “Considering our team and the results we’ve been getting, I don’t think it’s fair,” he said, urging patience as the squad works toward consistency.

Looking ahead, Zito remains optimistic about Kotoko’s potential. “Even if I’m not here, when this Kotoko team gets the consistency, it will be difficult for any team to beat them,” he added.

With 13 league matches remaining, Kotoko sit fifth on the Ghana Premier League table, eight points behind leaders Medeama.
