Augustine Arhinful rates Black Stars 6/10 after Wales draw

Former Ghana forward Augustine Arhinful believes the Black Stars must improve ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite avoiding defeat against Wales.

Ghana drew 1-1 in Cardiff after Caleb Yirenkyi's second-half goal was cancelled out by a late Welsh equaliser.

While there were positives to take from the performance, Arhinful felt Wales were the better side for long periods of the match.

"I'll rate the Black Stars 6/10 for their performance against Wales," he said.

"It was only after we scored that we came out of our shells. Before that, Wales completely dominated and hit the post two or three times."

The former striker believes Ghana struggled to impose themselves during much of the contest and were fortunate not to concede earlier.

However, he acknowledged that the team showed improvement after taking the lead and produced some encouraging moments during the second half.

Carlos Queiroz's side will now turn their attention to the World Cup, where they face Panama, England and Croatia in Group L.

Arhinful believes there is enough quality within the squad but insists the performance against Wales highlighted areas that must be addressed before the tournament gets underway.
