Ernest Nuamah has expressed his delight at returning to the Black Stars setup after a long spell on the sidelines, following his inclusion in Ghana’s provisional 28-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup preparations in Cardiff.

The Olympique Lyonnais winger, who has been absent from international duty for over a year due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, has now rejoined the group after successfully completing rehabilitation and proving his fitness at club level.

Nuamah, who reported to the Black Stars training camp at Dragon Park on May 25, 2026, has already taken part in the opening sessions as head coach Carlos Queiroz assesses his options ahead of the final squad cut.

The current roster will be reduced to 26 players by June 1, 2026, before Ghana face Wales in a preparatory friendly on June 2 at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Reflecting on his return, Nuamah said: "Yeah, it's been good. It feels good to be back around the team. It's been one year since I haven't been here. But it feels good like everyone is dedicated."

His comeback adds competition to Ghana’s attacking options as the team fine-tunes preparations for the World Cup in North America, where they will face Panama, England and Croatia in Group L.
