'We want to keep pressure on league leaders' – Hearts of Oak coach Didi Dramani eyes Super Clash victory
· GhanaSoccernetHearts of Oak head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has made it clear that Sunday's Super Clash against Asante Kotoko is about more than just bragging rights—it is about keeping the pressure on Ghana Premier League leaders Medeama SC.
Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated fixture at Kumasi's Baba Yara Stadium, Dramani emphasised the importance of the three points at stake as his side looks to maintain their push at the top of the table.
"Matches involving Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, devoid of the standards – everybody knows the importance of it," Dramani told the club's media. "More importantly, we want to keep the pressure on the league leaders, and so the points at stake is so so important to us."
Hearts currently sit fourth in the league standings with 36 points, just one point ahead of fifth-placed Kotoko. Leaders Medeama SC hold a commanding position at the summit with 43 points, but Dramani believes his side can close the gap with a positive result in Kumasi.
"We are very focused in terms of what to do in order to be able to achieve that standard of gaining three points," he added.
Sunday's clash takes on added significance following a turbulent week for Kotoko, who saw head coach Abdul Karim Zito resign after a poor run of results. He has since been replaced on an interim basis by Prince Yaw Owusu.
For Hearts, the opportunity is clear. A victory would not only secure bragging rights in Ghana's biggest rivalry but also keep them within striking distance of Medeama as the season enters its decisive phase.
Dramani's message is one of calm focus. The occasion is big. The stakes are high. But for Hearts, the objective remains simple: three points and pressure maintained.
