Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has voiced strong optimism about the Black Stars’ chances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting the team has both the talent and unity to compete strongly on the global stage.

The four-time African champions, Ghana, are set for their fifth World Cup appearance, with the tournament scheduled to take place across North America. Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.

Speaking in an interview with FIFA, Semenyo highlighted the strong morale within the squad, pointing to the influence of the technical team, backroom staff, and national support.

"We've got the backing of our nation, for one. Obviously, loads of prayers and blessings over the team, but we've got a good management staff, we've got good background staff, and everyone is just so positive and confident, and that gives us the positivity to go out on the pitch and do what we need to do and win games," Semenyo told FIFA in an interview.

He added that the team’s attacking quality and defensive organisation give them belief heading into the tournament.

"So, it plays a massive part and definitely goes a long way. I feel like we've got a lot of attacking talent and killer instincts. A lot of players who just want to get in positions and shoot and score. Defensively, we're solid as well. We work together as a team," the Manchester City forward added.

Ghana will begin their campaign against Panama at BMO Field in Toronto on 17 June, before facing England at the Boston Stadium on 23 June. Their final group match will be against Croatia at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on 27 June.

The Black Stars are aiming to improve on disappointing group-stage exits in 2014 and 2022, as they look to progress beyond the first round for the first time in over a decade.
