Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz insists Ghana are fully prepared for their 2026 FIFA World Cup opener against Panama, regardless of whether Thomas Partey is cleared to join the squad before kickoff.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday's Group L clash in Toronto, Queiroz revealed he has already mapped out his plans and will select his team based on the players currently available, with the midfielder's visa situation yet to be resolved.

"We have our plan settled. We are in this moment counting with all the 26 players that we have in the squad and tomorrow we'll make a decision on what will be the starting lineup," Queiroz said.

Partey remains in the United States after Canadian authorities denied him entry because of ongoing criminal proceedings in the United Kingdom. The Ghanaian government continues diplomatic and legal efforts to overturn the decision before the Black Stars' opening match.

While uncertainty remains over one of Ghana's most experienced players, Queiroz stressed that his preparations have not been disrupted.

"My business is to play with the cards that I have in front of me," he said.

"We are waiting for a decision. When the decision comes, we are ready to make the final approach to the game."

The Portuguese coach also declined to comment on the off-field developments surrounding Partey, saying the issue was beyond his remit.

"I think it's not necessary to make comments. The story is open, the freedom of speech is open."

Queiroz's remarks suggest Ghana have prepared for both scenarios, with or without Partey, as the Black Stars look to make a winning start before facing England and Croatia in their remaining Group L matches.

Victory over Panama would give Ghana an early advantage in one of the tournament's toughest groups, with Queiroz determined to keep his players focused on the task at hand despite the uncertainty surrounding one of their key midfielders.
