Doctor Doom and His Latverian Witches Assemble in New AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Poster

by · GeekTyrant

Doctor Doom isn’t coming to the MCU alone. A new Avengers: Doomsdayposter has surfaced ahead of San Diego Comic-Con Málaga, putting Robert Downey Jr.’s Victor von Doom on his throne with three mysterious Latverian Witches standing nearby.

The international artwork is part of the Avengers: Doomsday display at the convention, and while Doom naturally commands most of the attention, his masked followers are the more intriguing part of the image.

Reports have indicated that Doomsday will introduce more than three of these magic-wielding characters, but Marvel has kept their identities under wraps. That secrecy has already sparked plenty of theories about who might be hiding beneath those masks.

One popular possibility is Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch. Wanda Maximoff’s current MCU status leaves Marvel plenty of room to bring her back in an unexpected way, and having her somehow connected to Doom would certainly make for an interesting return.

She isn’t the only candidate. Charlize Theron’s Clea and Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie Laufeydottir have also been floated as possibilities.

Then there’s a recent plot leak claiming one of the Witches isn’t what she appears to be. According to the rumor, one member of the group is actually a shape-shifter who takes the form ofHayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter as part of an attempt to deceive Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers.

As always with an unconfirmed Marvel leak, take that one with a healthy dose of skepticism. What does appear clear is that Doom will have plenty of allies when Avengers: Doomsday arrives, with that influence potentially carrying over into Avengers: Secret Wars.

With San Diego Comic-Con Málaga taking place this weekend, there’s also a chance Marvel could have something more substantial waiting for fans, possibly another Avengers: Doomsday teaser.

For now, the new poster gives us another cool look at Downey’s Doctor Doom and his masked magical entourage.
