Pedro Pascal Takes on Hollywood Movie Scores in New Trailer for Tony Gilroy’s BEHEMOTH!
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantSearchlight Pictures has released a new trailer for Tony Gilroy’s Behemoth!, and it looks like a fascinating dive into the world of Hollywood film composers. The movie stars Pedro Pascalas a talented musician who trades life on the road for a new career creating music for the movies.
Gilroy, the filmmaker behind the excellent Michael Clayton, the Bourne films, and the acclaimed Andor series, is tackling something much more personal this time around. He's had a lifelong passion for movie scores, and Behemoth! gives him the chance to explore the people and music that help bring movies to life.
Pascal plays Alex Serian, a gifted cellist from a family of musicians who returns home to Los Angeles after spending 20 years on the road. Looking for a new direction, he enters the world of film composing, where his relationship with music takes him on an unexpected journey that changes his life.
The trailer opens with Alex working on a major Hollywood production operating under the secret title Behemoth!, which also gives Gilroy's film its name. It's a fun way to introduce the strange and demanding business of making music for movies, with Pascal right in the middle of it.
The project also has an incredible group of composers involved. Known as "The Behemoth! Collective," the lineup includes Michael Abels, Emily Bear, Lukas Frank, Michael Giacchino, James Newton Howard, Henry Jackman, Nami Melumad, Brandon Roberts, and Alan Silvestri.
Joining Pascal in the cast are Olivia Wilde, Eva Victor, Alexa Swinton, Kaya Ralls, Erik Griffin, Jobeth Williams, Margarita Levieva, Hank Azaria, and Will Arnett.
Gilroy wrote and directed the film, with John Gilroy and Sanne Wohlenberg joining him as producers. Cinematography comes from Damián García.
Behemoth! premiered at the 2026 New York Film Festival earlier this month and also screened in London. Reviews have been mixed, with some critics embracing Gilroy's personal approach while others weren't quite as impressed.
I'm still very interested in this one. Gilroy has made some fantastic movies, Pascal is always worth watching, and the idea of exploring Hollywood through the musicians responsible for its soundtracks is a great premise. The new trailer certainly has my attention.
Searchlight Pictures will release Behemoth! in select US theaters on December 4, 2026.
