AVATAR: SEVEN HAVENS Renewed for Two More Seasons as Paramount+ Announces AVATAR KURUK: WAVE OF CHAOS
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantThe Avatar universe is getting a whole lot bigger! Paramount+ has officially renewed Avatar: Seven Havensfor two additional seasons, and that's not all. A brand-new animated series, Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos, is also in the works, giving fans another Avatar to follow on a wild new adventure.
The announcements came during their New York Comic-Con panel at the Javits Center, celebrating the debut of Avatar: Seven Havens on Paramount+. The renewal confirms that Avatar Pavi and her twin sister Nisha will continue their journey through Books 3 and 4, with plenty more stories ahead.
The panel featured Avatar: The Last Airbender co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, alongside executive producer Ethan Spaulding and co-executive producer Sehaj Sethi.
They were joined by voice actors Saheli Khan, Aishu Devan, and Major Curda, who play Pavi, Nisha, and Jae, respectively. Janet Varney, who voiced Korra in The Legend of Korra, moderated the discussion.
We also got a look at how the new animated series came together, including a special script-to-screen clip that showed the creative process of bringing the story to life.
For those who haven't jumped into Avatar: Seven Havens yet, the sequel takes place after the events of The Legend of Korra and introduces a young Earthbender named Pavi, who discovers she's the next Avatar.
Unfortunately for Pavi, she's inheriting a world that's been torn apart by a devastating cataclysm. With civilization struggling to recover, her journey as the new Avatar comes with some serious challenges.
The first three episodes of Book 1 premiered on Paramount+ on October 9. The remaining episodes will roll out throughout the month, with episodes 4 through 6 arriving October 16, episodes 7 through 9 dropping October 23, and the final four episodes of Book 1 premiering October 30.
Details about Books 2, 3, and 4 are being kept under wraps for now. Meanwhile, the newly announced Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos sounds like it could be a particularly fun addition to the franchise.
The animated series follows a rebellious teenage Avatar Kuruk, who isn't interested in doing things the traditional way. Rather than following thousands of years of established Avatar training, Kuruk decides to master the four elements by traveling the world and getting into all kinds of trouble.
His adventures will have him dodging an angry teacher, dealing with rowdy pirates, and facing chaotic spirits while finding his own unconventional ways to help people.
It's a pretty cool premise, especially since Kuruk is an Avatar whose story hasn't received nearly as much attention as Aang or Korra. Getting to explore his younger years and see what kind of trouble he gets into should make for an entertaining series.
Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos is being produced by Avatar Studios and Nickelodeon Animation Studios, with Konietzko serving as showrunner.
Between the continued adventures of Pavi in Avatar: Seven Havens and Kuruk's globe-trotting misadventures, Avatar Studios has plenty of new stories on the way.
It's really cool to see the franchise exploring different eras of the Avatar cycle while introducing new characters and expanding on its mythology.
