Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried Heat Up the First Trailer for THE HOUSEMAID
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantThe first trailer for The Housemaid has arrived, and it looks like we’re in for a stylish and dangerous thriller. Directed by Paul Feig and based on the best-selling novel by Freida McFadden, the film stars Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried in a twisted story that plays with power, secrets, and deception.
The screenplay, written by Rebecca Sonnenshine, follows Millie (Sweeney) as she tries to leave her troubled past behind by taking a job as a live-in maid for the wealthy Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew Winchester (played by Brandon Sklenar).
At first, it seems like a dream opportunity, but the deeper Millie becomes entangled in the lives of her employers, the more dangerous the situation gets.
The official synopsis teases: “The film plunges audiences into a twisted world where perfection is an illusion, and nothing is as it seems. Trying to escape her past, Millie (Sweeney) accepts a job as a live-in housemaid for the wealthy Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew Winchester (Brandon Sklenar).
“But what begins as a dream job quickly unravels into something far more dangerous — a sexy, seductive game of secrets, scandal, and power. Behind the Winchesters’ closed doors lies a world of shocking twists that will leave you guessing until the very end.”
Joining Sweeney, Seyfried, and Sklenar are Michele Morrone and Elizabeth Perkins. The film looks like it’s tapping into the glossy, psychological thriller vibes of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train, but with its own seductive edge.
The trailer leans hard into the psychological aspect of the story and simmering tension, setting up what feels like a gripping mix of danger and allure. The Housemaid is shaping up to be one of the most exciting thrillers to watch out for.
Are you ready to step inside the Winchesters’ world of secrets and lies? The movie hits theaters on December 19th.
