THE RINGS OF POWER Season 3 Trailer Unleashes Sauron's Darkest Chapter and the Forging of the One Ring!

Prime Video has released an epic new trailer forThe Lord of the Rings: The Rings of PowerSeason 3, and it looks like we're in for one hell of a ride through Middle-earth! The new footage is packed with massive battles, dark magic, and the long-awaited forging of the One Ring, one of the most important events in J.R.R. Tolkien's mythology.

I've been a big fan of The Rings of Power since the beginning, and I've really enjoyed what the creative team has been doing with this series. I know it has divided fans, but I've loved exploring this era of Middle-earth, watching these characters develop, and seeing the pieces of Tolkien's larger story come together.

Now that we're getting into the creation of the One Ring, I'm especially excited to see how they bring this monumental chapter to life!

Season 3 will follow Sauron, played by Charlie Vickers, as he works to forge the One Ring, the weapon that will give him the power to dominate the other Rings of Power and bend their bearers to his will. It's a defining moment in Middle-earth's history, setting the stage for events that eventually unfold in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

The series has spent its first two seasons establishing the characters, kingdoms, rivalries, and growing darkness that make this moment possible. While some fans have criticized the pacing and creative liberties, I've enjoyed the journey.

There's something awesome about getting to spend this much time in Middle-earth, and I appreciate that the show has been willing to explore the mythology beyond the familiar stories we've already seen on the big screen.

According to Prime Video's synopsis: “Season 3 finds Sauron transformed into his legendary armored form as he enslaves his ring-servants, the Nazgnagôl, and sows destruction across Middle-earth through deception and might.

“Meanwhile, Gandalf emerges as the iconic wizard of lore, and Galadriel continues her evolution into the wise and powerful elven Lady of Lothlórien. And, for the first time on screen, audiences will witness the foundational moment that shaped Middle-earth and became a cornerstone of popular culture: the forging of the One Ring – capping Sauron’s quest for ultimate power as he battles the resistance of Elves, Dwarves, and Men.”

That's a lot of major Tolkien history packed into one season! Between Sauron's rise to power, the emergence of the Nazgûl, Gandalf's transformation into the wizard fans know and love, and Galadriel's continued development, there's plenty to look forward to.

The trailer also makes it clear that Prime Video isn't holding back on the scale of this season. The battles look massive, the visuals are cinematic, and there's an increasingly ominous atmosphere hanging over everything. It feels like the story is moving into some seriously dark territory, and I'm all for it.

Showrunner Patrick McKay has teased that audiences aren't prepared for what's ahead, saying: “I don’t think audiences, even audiences who watched the first two seasons, are really ready for what’s coming this time,”

McKay also offered one particularly ominous warning, syaing, “No one is safe.” That's exactly the kind of danger and uncertainty I want from this chapter of the story.

We know where Sauron's ambitions ultimately lead, but there's still plenty of room for the series to surprise us with how these events unfold and what they cost the characters we've been following.

I'm also looking forward to seeing how the show handles the forging of the One Ring itself. It's such an iconic piece of Tolkien lore, and after seeing Peter Jackson bring so much of this world to life in his films, it'll be cool to finally experience this pivotal event as a major part of the story rather than a brief glimpse into the past.

I've enjoyed what The Rings of Power has delivered so far, and I'm invested in seeing where the creators take it next. Season 3 looks like it could be the show's biggest and darkest chapter yet, and I'm excited to get back to Middle-earth!

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 premieres November 11, 2026, on Prime Video, with the first four episodes arriving together.
