YELLOWJACKETS Season 4 Trailer Brings the Survivors Home, but Their Nightmare Is Far From Over
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantThe survivors of Yellowjacketsare finally coming home, but getting out of the wilderness might be the least of their problems.
Showtime has released the first full teaser trailer for Yellowjackets Season 4, giving fans a look at the show's final chapter. After three seasons of brutal survival, shocking deaths, and plenty of disturbing secrets, we're finally going to see what happened when the stranded soccer team returned to civilization.
Originally planned as a five-season series, Yellowjackets will now wrap things up with Season 4, and the new footage suggests there's still plenty of trouble waiting for these characters.
One of the biggest reveals in the trailer is something fans have been waiting years to see: the rescue of the Yellowjackets. After the Season 3 finale confirmed that help was coming, the new footage picks up with the survivors back in civilization, where investigators are trying to piece together exactly what happened out there.
Of course, these girls aren't exactly eager to share the whole story. During their interviews, the survivors appear to have agreed on a carefully rehearsed explanation.
They endured the elements, struggled to stay alive, and somehow made it through. What they conveniently leave out are the more horrifying details, including how some of their teammates died and what happened to their bodies afterward.
The trailer also introduces another unsettling mystery when Lottie is asked whether anyone might still be out in the wilderness waiting to be rescued. Her inability to answer raises some interesting questions about what, or possibly who, the survivors left behind.
That's a pretty disturbing possibility considering everything we've already seen happen in those woods. Another revealing moment comes when young Shauna is asked how it feels to finally be home. Her response is just two words: “It doesn’t.”
That says plenty about where these characters are mentally after everything they've experienced. Returning to their families, attending school, and pretending to be ordinary teenagers again isn't going to be easy, especially when they're all carrying secrets that could destroy their lives.
Watching the younger Yellowjackets attempt to adjust to life in the 1990s should be one of the most interesting parts of the final season. We've spent years watching them struggle to survive in the wilderness, but now we'll see how those experiences shaped the people they eventually became.
Meanwhile, the present-day storyline is heading toward another nasty confrontation. The Season 3 finale left Taissa and Misty discussing a possible alliance in 2026, with Shauna becoming their next target. Considering the increasingly dangerous relationships between these survivors, that partnership could create some serious problems.
There's also Walter, played by Elijah Wood, who appears to have plans of his own. Whatever he's plotting could complicate an already messy situation.
With the rescue finally happening, the survivors facing questions about their missing teammates, and the adult Yellowjackets turning against one another, Season 4 has a lot of ground to cover before the series ends.
The biggest question, though, might be whether we'll finally learn everything that happened in the wilderness, or whether some secrets are simply too horrifying for the survivors to ever admit.
Yellowjackets Season 4 premieres November 20 on Showtime.
