New VISIONQUEST TV Spot Unleashes Fresh Footage and Major Praise for Marvel’s Upcoming Series

by · GeekTyrant

Marvel Studios has released a new TV spot for VisionQuest, and along with some glowing early reactions from critics, the footage may have given away a pretty exciting surprise involving the Maximoff family.

This latest preview offers some fresh footage, including a mysterious robotic device and a brief moment that has fans wondering whether Vision is about to reunite with his sons.

At around the 22-second mark, we see a hand resting against Vision's chest as blue energy radiates from it. That energy looks awfully familiar to anyone who knows Billy Maximoff's powers, raising the possibility that he's making an appearance.

If that's Billy, there's a good chance the other hand in the scene belongs to his twin brother, Tommy Maximoff. Nothing has been confirmed. Of course, Marvel could be playing tricks with the footage, so we'll have to see how it all comes together.

While that potential reunion is getting plenty of attention, the new TV spot is primarily focused on celebrating the enthusiastic reactions VisionQuest has received from critics.

Paul Bettany and James Spader are described as "magnetic", while another critic says Bettany "shines" in every episode. Spader, who returns as the villainous Ultron, apparently "steals the show," which is exactly what you'd hope to hear about his comeback.

The series is also being praised as "trippy and transcendent" and a "genuine love letter to WandaVision." The full review embargo lifts Monday, October 12, giving critics a chance to share their thoughts a couple of days before the premiere.

That's earlier than we've seen with several recent MCU Disney+ projects, which suggests Marvel Studios is feeling pretty good about what it has on its hands.

As for the story, VisionQuest picks up with Vision living in hiding after being rebooted and escaping the people who wanted to turn him into a weapon. He's searching for purpose and trying to understand what he has become, turning to the various AI personalities embedded in his programming for answers.

Those include F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and Ultron, which should make for some fascinating conversations, especially with Ultron potentially trying to influence Vision from within.

Things get considerably more complicated when a bounty is placed on Vision's head, forcing him to flee alongside Thomas Shepard, a mysterious young man who may actually be his reincarnated son.

With enemies hunting him and Ultron threatening to influence his decisions, Vision has to figure out who he really is while uncovering the truth about his traveling companion.

The cast also includes Ruaridh Mollica, Todd Stashwick, T'Nia Miller, Lauren Morais, Orla Brady, Diane Morgan, Polly Frame, Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, Emily Hampshire, and James D'Arcy.

The series was created for television by Terry Matalas, with Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Mary Livanos, Matalas, Jac Schaeffer, and Christopher J. Byrne serving as executive producers.

I'm particularly excited to see Bettany and Spader sharing the screen again. Their dynamic was one of the highlights of Avengers: Age of Ultron, and bringing them together under these circumstances could be a lot of fun.

VisionQuest premieres October 14 on Disney+.
