David Corenswet Plays Late NFL Star John Tuggle in Trailer for Inspiring Underdog Story MR. IRRELEVANT

Paramount and Skydance Sports released the trailer for the biopic Mr. Irrelevant, about the late New York Giants running back, John Tuggle. The film is led by David Corenswet, who stars in the lead role of Clark Kent in the most recent Superman movies.

The story recounts his final months before his death at age 25 of cancer in 1986, three years after he was drafted by the NFL team.

A true underdog, Tuggle was the final draft pick of the final round in 1983. He defied expectations on the field and off for his then first-year head coach, Bill Parcells (Michael Shannon), his newfound love (Isabel May) and his team, proving that remarkable hope and perseverance can transcend even the greatest challenges.

The film is directed by Jonathan Levine (50/50, Nine Perfect Strangers), from a script written by Nick Santora (Reacher, FUBAR), and the cast also includes David Krumholtz, Tuwaine Barrett, Thaddeus LaGrone, Alexander England, Spencer House and Tandi Wright.

This looks like an incredibly inspiring story, and it aptly comes out on Christmas Day. Check out the trailer below, and watch Mr. Irrelevant with family or friends, in theatres on December 25th.
