Creepy-Ass Trailer for OTHER MOMMY Teases Jessica Chastain in a Twisted Horror Nightmare

Horror fans are about to get another nightmare fuel obsession. The first trailer for Other Mommy has arrived, and it looks like director Rob Savage is diving headfirst into one seriously unsettling story.

If you thought creepy doppelgängers were disturbing before, this movie cranks that idea into something genuinely demented.

Based on Josh Malerman's bestselling novel Incidents Around the House, Other Mommy looks like the kind of horror movie that'll have people checking dark corners of their homes long after the credits roll.

The trailer leans into psychological terror, eerie imagery, and the kind of skin-crawling atmosphere that Savage proved he could deliver with Host and The Boogeyman.

Produced by James Wan alongside Blumhouse and Atomic Monster, Other Mommy centers on a young girl named Bela, who forms a relationship with a terrifying presence lurking inside her home. The entity just happens to look exactly like her mother, making the situation even more disturbing.

Jessica Chastain takes on dual roles as Bela's real mother and the sinister "Other Mommy," the supernatural manifestation haunting the family. From what the trailer shows, Chastain looks like she's having an absolute blast playing both sides of this twisted coin, shifting from comforting parent to something deeply wrong in ways that are incredibly creepy.

The cast also includes Jay Duplass as Bela's father, Daddo, while Arabella Olivia Clark stars as Bela. Rounding out the impressive supporting cast are Dichen Lachman, Arian Moayed, and screen legend Karen Allen.

Savage directs from a screenplay by Nathan Elston, whose writing credits include the Emmy-winning Succession.

The footage builds tension in all the right ways, filling every scene with an uneasy feeling that something terrible is lurking just out of sight.

Universal Pictures will release Other Mommy exclusively in theaters on October 9, 2026.
