Backlash over I'm A Celeb's Coleen Rooney's leaves Rebekah Vardy 'stressed'
by Michael Moran · PlymouthLiveThe "Wagatha Christie" scandal has left Rebekah Vardy embroiled in controversy once more, after she denied leaking stories about Coleen Rooney to The Sun. Vardy faced a fresh wave of indignation when she took swipes at Rooney in her column for the same newspaper.
Reveling in her WAG adversary's misfortunes, Vardy relished the moment Rooney fell into the river during am I'm A Celebrity challenge, writing: "It's the gift that keeps on giving," She also expressed keen interest in seeing Rooney consume "humble pie" and "penis" in the jungle, adding scathingly, "She likes to be the victim," and "I'll never forgive her."
Vardy suggested envy was at play, claiming Rooney had "always wanted [Vardy's] life."
Vardy further claimed that her own stint in 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here' in 2017 was being mirrored by Rooney, despite being reportedly paid a hefty £1.5m for the ordeal. Yet the response to her latest comments has been far from warm, with even regular Loose Women panelists reacting coolly.
Rebekah has spoken out about her weight loss, attributing it to the "stress diet," reports the Daily Record. revealing to Closer Magazine that current pressures were becoming overwhelming.
"It's all been too much with everything going on at the moment," she said.
A friend close friend of Vardy's revealed that the WAG had been surprised by the backlash: "Rebekah can't believe she is getting so much hate – she had hoped her column would have painted her in a positive way, but it is having the opposite effect."
Vardy has expressed her struggle to speak out after facing a deluge of "negative feedback" regarding her column. Alongside this, she's found the humour of I'm A Celebrity hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donelly distressing, with their jokes leaving her feeling "really hurt" away from the spotlight despite her calling their antics "lame".
Additionally, Vardy is under pressure due to the court ruling that compels her to cover 90% of Coleen Rooney's £1.8 million legal fees. She's currently contesting parts of the cost, including stays at an upscale London hotel and what she deems "excessive" food and drink charges.
To garner the necessary funds, Vardy's required to provide further commentary on I'm A Celebrity for another three weeks, despite declaring that her once-admiration for Ant and Dec has turned into an inability to even watch the show – although she acknowledges it's a must given her contractual obligations to cover it.
