Coleen Rooney's I'm A Celeb stint questioned by ex contestant as she predicts 'real reason'
by Samantha Masters · PlymouthLiveKim Woodburn has suggested that Coleen Rooney may have joined I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! for a more personal reason beyond her reported £1.5 million pay cheque.
Kim, 82, who previously competed on the show, said that while she doesn't know Coleen, 38, personally, she believes she has signed up to prove to her four sons how strong she is away from family life.
Speaking to Reach PLC via Which Bingo, she shared: "I don't know the lady, I've never met the lady, I can't imagine why she'd want to go in, she's got a great amount of money.
"It's possible that she wants to see how far she copes. I don't know why she's going in. If I had all her money [I wouldn't], but maybe she wants to prove to her sons or maybe she wants some limelight for a change, without her husband."
Wayne Rooney and his wife are reportedly worth £115 million from various sources including football, endorsements and investments over the years.
By her own admission, the footballer's wife has said that despite many believing she lives a champagne lifestyle, she's very much a typical mum who juggles life around their four sons; Kai, Klay, Kit, and Cass.
Echoing her thoughts on Coleen's signing, Kim added: "Why she's doing it when she's worth millions [I don't know], but maybe she wants to prove to her family that your mum is a toughie, maybe she is, I wait to see."
Back in September, the mother-of-four admitted life had been "hectic" due to Wayne taking on the head coach role at Plymouth Argyle, while she and their sons remain at their Cheshire home.
"The key thing is I'm really organised. Preparation is key and just to make sure everything's done beforehand. I think that is my main strength," she told The Mirror about their long distance.
Coleen went on to say that despite the distance, she is glad Wayne is still in England, considering his past move to America.
Now embracing her own journey overseas, she shared of her jungle stint: "I would like to experience it; something different, do something for myself and meet new people.
"Don't get me wrong, I'm really anxious about leaving the kids.
"For weeks and months that's been on my mind but I've planned and prepped."
I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! airs Sunday at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
