Coronation Street fans 'can’t get over' cobbles legend's secret role in Taylor Swift film

Coronation Street fans have been left stunned after realising that a beloved character on the soap was once a co-star of Taylor Swift in a huge Hollywood movie

Coronation Street enthusiasts are just now discovering that a beloved actor from the soap once shared the screen with Taylor Swift in a major Hollywood film.

Peter Gunn, who is best known for his role as Brian Packham on the ITV soap since 2010, has recently been the topic of conversation among fans. Brian, the comical former headmaster, has become a fan favourite over the years.

Besides Coronation Street, Peter has also appeared in popular shows such as Holby City, Doctors and Skins. However, it's his previous role in a blockbuster Hollywood movie that has sparked recent chatter among fans. Interestingly, he not only starred alongside Taylor Swift but also Miley Cyrus.

In 2009, Peter featured in Hannah Montana: The Movie, a spin-off from the Disney Channel series of the same name. In the film, which raked in over $150 million at the box office, Peter portrayed reporter Oswald Granger.

His character was eager to uncover a story about pop sensation Hannah, played by Miley Cyrus, reports the Liverpool Echo. He followed her to her hometown and discovered her big secret - she was actually schoolgirl Miley Stewart wearing a blonde wig.

In 2019, Peter discussed his role in the Hollywood film during an appearance on the Sofa Cinema Club podcast. He shared his experience of working with both Miley and Taylor Swift. Peter admitted: "The weird thing is that I didn't know who Miley Cyrus was when I was up for the part, and I can remember asking my eight-year-old son, 'Have you heard of this Miley Cyrus?'".

Peter shared his astonishment at the scale of the project and fame of his co-star: "We're in Nashville, which is her hometown, and I'm thinking yeah she's a Nashville girl, so she's going to be popular."

"But then the first week I'm there, in the evening I'm in the hotel room and put the television on and there's a discussion about what Miley's done that day. I thought why are they discussing that? Because they did every day."

Reflecting further he added: "This was on the local news, and I'm thinking, 'Flipping hell, she is big isn't she? ' And then you realise as we're going around wherever we go, she has security, people just go absolutely berserk."

During his time on set, he even had an encounter with another music sensation, Taylor Swift: "She was on tour and she turned up when we were filming and remember being sat on the makeup bus and she sat next to me and went, 'Hi, I'm Taylor, and we were just having a chit chat.' She was telling me about the tour and how she's come to help Miley."

Interestingly, Peter's role in a Hollywood movie has only recently caught the attention of his Coronation Street fans. A revelation on a Corrie Facebook fan page led to surprise comments, with one fan posting: "Curious is this Brian the works in the kabbin In The Hannah Montana Movie," accompanied by a snapshot of Peter in the film.

Another viewer agreed: "Omg it is." A third person commented: "All this time and I had no idea." Someone else exclaimed: "Didn't expect that, I can't get over it," accompanied by a laughing emoji.
