Hardship: No sign your economic team is proactive – Tinubu to Tinubu

by · Daily Post

The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in the last general election, Oluwole Adebayo, has insisted that President Bola Tinubu did not assemble the best economic team.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Adebayo said that the President’s economic team is not sharp enough and that it was far from being proactive.

The outspoken lawyer believes that Tinubu does not need to go outside the All Progressives Congress, APC, to get the people to turn things in his administration.

“The problem is that the way he has set up his economic team, there is no sign that they are proactive, they are only reacting to the consequences of their earlier actions,” Adebayo said.

“So, they are perpetually defending, perpetually behind. So, the economic team is not nimble enough, it’s not sharp enough.

“Even if he doesn’t go outside his party to look for people to run his economic team, within his party he has a lot of talents there within the rubric of their own belief. He has not even used the best of APC people,” he added.

The former presidential candidate expressed surprise that even with all the money the current government claims to be saving from fuel subsidy removal, it is still borrowing to fund the budget.

DAILY POST reported that in an open letter on Sunday, a founding member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Osita Okechukwu, had charged the Presidential Economic Team against derailing Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda meant to uplift millions of Nigerians.

Okechukwu said the Presidential Economic Team should assist Tinubu to succeed and pull out of the adverse economic condition.

He informed the economic team that Tinubu aimed to seamlessly win the 2027 election, hence the need not to derail his agenda.
