2026 World Cup: FIFA agrees to Argentina’s request ahead of England semi-final clash
by Ifreke Inyang · Daily PostFIFA have confirmed Argentina will wear their navy blue strip shirts against England in their semi-final clash at the 2026 World Cup.
The current champions had made the ‘special request’ ahead of Wednesday’s game.
Argentina have turned to the past in a bid to gain a psychological edge, asking to play in the colour worn by Diego Maradona all those years ago.
Albicelester, who usually play in white and light blue stripes, also wore the navy blue when they eliminated England out of the 1998 World Cup.
An official Match Colour Designation release from FIFA on Monday, has now confirmed that Lionel Messi and co have been given the green light to wear their second strip, with the accompanying white shorts and red socks.
England, meanwhile, will take to the field in their white strip.
