Kano gov signs bill to establish Gaya Polytechnic
by Mikal Attah · Daily PostKano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf on Friday signed a bill establishing Gaya Polytechnic, aimed at expanding access to tertiary education and technical skills training in the state.
The signing ceremony took place at the Government House, Kano, with the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, and Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Bello Butubutu, in attendance.
According to the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the bill follows a report by a 14-member committee tasked with overseeing the establishment of the polytechnic. Once operational, the institution is expected to provide vocational and technical training for youths and contribute to local job creation.
Officials said the move is part of the state government’s plan to strengthen educational infrastructure and support socio-economic development in Gaya and surrounding areas.
