Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has removed his Special Legislative Aide, Umar Alhassan, from office over social media posts considered disrespectful to Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The decision was announced in a statement issued by Barau’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Shitu Madaki Kunchi, on Friday.

Alhassan, popularly known as King Indara, is a Kano-based TikTok personality who had served as a legislative aide in the office of the Deputy President of the Senate.

According to the statement, the decision followed posts made by Alhassan on his Facebook account, including the slogan “Abba Must Go.”

“Following social media posts made by one of the aides in the office of the Distinguished Deputy President of the Senate, known as King Indara, which showed indiscipline and disrespect towards the Executive Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, including the post ‘Abba Must Go’, the action was considered contrary to the values of discipline, respect and decorum,” Kunchi said in the statement.

He added that political appointees were expected to maintain discipline and promote constructive engagement at all levels of government.

Barau’s office said the action was taken to uphold the standards and values expected of officials working under the Deputy President of the Senate.

“Accordingly, we announce his removal from the position of Special Legislative Assistant (SLA) in the office of the Deputy Senate President with effect from September 18, 2026,” the statement said.
