Police arrest 23-year-old suspect over murder of Benue varsity professor
by Winner James · Daily PostThe Benue State Police Command has taken a 23-year-old man, Abdullahi Usman from Awe in Nasarawa State, into custody over the alleged murder of Professor Gabriel Saawua Nyityo and his younger brother, John Nyityo.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, said officers from the D Division acted on a distress report along the Adaka area, where they found the lifeless bodies of the two brothers.
The victims were identified as 58-year-old Professor Gabriel Saawua Nyityo and his 19-year-old younger brother, John Nyityo. Police said both men were allegedly attacked and killed by unidentified gunmen.
DSP Edet stated that preliminary investigations resulted in the arrest of Abdullahi Usman, 23, an indigene of Awe Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, over his alleged involvement in the incident.
She added that investigations are ongoing to apprehend other suspects.
