Fubara arrives Rivers State Assembly for 2026 Appropriation presentation
by Matthew Atungwu · Daily PostRivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has arrived at the State House of Assembly to present the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the House for consideration and approval.
This follows the Assembly’s approval, two weeks ago, of the 2026–2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework, MTEF.
The 2026–2028 MTEF is the fiscal document that sets out government revenue projections and expenditure plans over a three-year period and serves as the foundation for the annual budget.
Fubara was scheduled to present the Appropriation Bill earlier than Friday but reports indicated that the controversy between the executive and the legislators delayed the budget presentation.
Some stakeholders have, however, defended the governor, saying President Bola Tinubu had presented the Rivers State budget to the Senate for approval following the imposition of a state of emergency and the appointment of Ibok-Ete Ibas as the administrator of the state.
They argued that Governor Fubara was not due to present another budget until June/July this year, when the one approved by the Senate expires.
