Ballon d’Or 2026: ‘Messi already has a lot’ – Figo names player to win award

Former Portugal international, Luis Figo, has spoken about his favourite to win the Ballon d’Or this year.

In a series of quickfire this or that questions at the EA FC27 launch event, Figo was asked to pick between different nominees for the Ballon d’Or.

The former Real Madrid star ended up picking Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal as the winner over Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi.

The Portuguese pointed out that the Argentine legend has won the award many times already in his career.

Explaining his choice, Figo said, “Let’s give it to Lamine Yamal because Messi already has a lot.”

The winner of the 2026 Ballon d’Or will be announced in London next month.
