AFCON: Calm Osimhen doesn’t play well, you’ve to see him angry – Ighalo

Former Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo, has insisted that a ‘calm’ Victor Osimhen doesn’t play well for the national team.

According the Ighalo, Osimhen needs to be angry for you to see the best out of him.

The Manchester United star spoke on SuperSport on Saturday as Nigeria defeated Algeria 2-0 in the AFCON quarter-final stage.

This comes after Osimhen recently had a heated argument with Super Eagles teammate Lookman Ademola during Nigeria’s 4-0 win against Mozambique.

However, both players have already settled their differences and were impressive against Algeria on Saturday.

“We have seen Ronaldo do that [Osimhen’s heated argument with Lookman], but Victor is not Ronaldo in the Nigerian team; he is the biggest player,” Ighalo said.

“Even after the game [Nigeria vs Mozambique], I spoke to him, and he told me what Lookman said, which made him react that way. I told him next time do not react this way, sought it out in the dressing room, which they settled, and they are friends.

“I know Osimhen, you cannot fault his commitment to the national team. The calm Osimhen doesn’t play well. You have to see Osimhen angry. You don’t take your best player out of the team no matter what.”
