Suspected bandits loyal to Bello Turji kill 11, injure scores in Sokoto attack

No fewer than 11 people have reportedly been killed following a suspected bandit attack on several communities in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The incident was contained in a post shared on X on Friday night by security analyst, Bakatsine.

According to the post, the attack occurred on Thursday night in the communities of Turtsawa, Mazau and Majema, where armed men believed to be loyal to notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji stormed the villages and attacked residents.

The post added that several other people sustained serious injuries during the attack and are currently receiving treatment at undisclosed medical facilities.

“Last night, 11 people were killed in attacks on communities between Turtsawa, Mazau and Majema in Sabon Birni LGA of Sokoto State. The attackers are believed to be bandits loyal to the notorious bandit leader Bello Turji. Several others sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment,” Bakatsine wrote.

Bakatsine expressed sympathy with the families of those who lost their loved ones and called for decisive action to end the cycle of violence in the area.
