Ortom weaponizing insecurity, Gov Alia not sleeping – Benue Govt

by · Daily Post

The Governor Hyacinth Alia-led Benue State government on Wednesday accused former governor Samuel Ortom and some others of weaponizing insecurity in the state.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show, Alia’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, accused Ortom and some others of playing politics with insecurity in the state, while stressing that the governor is not sleeping over the situation.

Kula decried that it’s only in Benue State that citizens blame their governor for insecurity.

Stressing that insecurity is not peculiar to Benue State, Kula insisted that the governor is not comfortable with the crisis.

He said: “What is happening in Benue State in respect to insecurity is happening in other states, it’s not peculiar to Benue and there is no excuse saying that because it’s happening in other states we should be comfortable, we are not comfortable, Alia is not comfortable.

“He is not sleeping but ensuring that insecurity is reduced to the barest minimum as we now have what we can describe as a relative peace in the state.

“The people involved here including Samuel Ortom are the same people who are weaponizing insecurity, it’s only in Benue State that everybody knows that the governor has the capacity to quell insecurity completely bedeviling the state, its happening in other states but you can hardly see the citizens of those states coming out to blame the governor.

“So you can see that these people are playing politics including Ortom in particular, they are playing politics with this.”
