Matawalle condemns attack on Kebbi GGCSS, orders urgent rescue of abducted students
by Mikal Attah · Daily PostMinister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle, has condemned the attack on Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, GGCSS, Maga, in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, which left the vice principal dead and several students abducted.
DAILY POST report that Bandits armed with sophisticated weapons invaded the school on Sunday night, killing Vice Principal Malam Hassan Yakubu Makuku and whisking away an unspecified number of female students.
In a statement issued on Monday, Matawalle described the attack as “unacceptable” and directed security agencies to move swiftly to secure the release of the abducted students.
“The government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered immediate action to ensure the safe rescue of the students,” he said.
He urged security formations in the area to intensify coordinated operations to apprehend the attackers and restore calm.
The minister appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as efforts continue to track the perpetrators.
Matawalle also commiserated with the family of the slain vice principal and families of the affected students.
“I pray to Allah to grant him mercy and console his family and loved ones over this painful and unjust loss,” he added.
