Kebbi police threaten legal action over blockade of Kebbi–Sokoto highway
by Mikal Attah · Daily PostThe Kebbi State Police Command has warned that it will take legal action against anyone involved in further blockades of the Kebbi–Sokoto Federal Highway.
The command issued the warning following a road blockade on Friday, October 9, 2026, which disrupted vehicular movement for about three hours. A similar incident occurred on September 23.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Umar M. Hadejia.
Usman said the blockade prevented motorists, people requiring emergency medical attention and other road users from moving freely.

He urged aggrieved persons to express their grievances through lawful channels, including elected representatives, traditional rulers and the Police Community Relations Committee.
The police warned that organisers and participants in any future blockade could face investigation and prosecution in accordance with the law.
The Commissioner of Police appealed to residents to respect the rights of other citizens and avoid actions that disrupt the movement of people and goods.
He also urged parents and guardians to discourage their children and wards from participating in unlawful assemblies.
