Christopher Musa not resigning as Defence Minister – Presidency

President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has told Nigerians that the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa is not resigning from his position.

Onanuga said Musa was fully committed and focused on his mandate of ensuring national security.

In a terse statement on his X page, the presidential spokesman said Musa was dedicated towards Nigeria’s defence strategy, adding that results are evident.

According to Onanuga: “General Musa not resigning as defence minister.

“General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd) remains fully focused on his national security mandate, deeply committed to his duties, and completely dedicated to piloting the nation’s defence strategy with results already being seen.”

Recall that Musa had also denied the rumour of him resigning from the ministerial role, while threatening legal actions against those responsible.

He described the report as baseless, insisting he had never discussed resigning from office with anybody.

Musa made this known while addressing State House Correspondents after briefing Tinubu on Nigeria’s security situation at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Tuesday.

In December 2025, Tinubu appointed the former Chief of Defence Staff as Defence Minister.

Musa replaced Mohammed Abubakar, who resigned his position days earlier.
