Ibom Angels have been rewarded with a cash gift for their Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL, opening day performance against Naija Ratels.

The Uyo-based club held Naija Ratels to a goalless draw at the Bwari Stadium, Abuja on Wednesday.

The State Commissioner for Sports, Elder Paul Bassey, doled out the cash to the team on their arrival in Uyo.

Bassey described the girls as worthy ambassadors of the state and called their performance heroic.

“As government, we are proud of their heroic performance which has put smiles on the faces of Akwa Ibom people, and we stand resolute in our commitment to support and cheer them on throughout the season and beyond,” Bassey stated to the players in Uyo.

Ibom Angels will take on Pacesetters Queens on matchday two next week Wednesday at the Uyo Township Stadium.
