Police assure tight security, urge vigilance in Jigawa ahead Easter
by Khaleel Muhammad · Daily PostThe Jigawa State Police Command has called on residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Easter celebration across the state.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the Command assured the public that adequate security measures have been put in place to safeguard lives and property during the festive period.
The statement noted that the measures are in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and the proactive leadership of the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Haruna Alaba Yahaya.
According to the Command, personnel have been strategically deployed to key locations, including churches, recreational centres, highways, motor parks, and markets where large gatherings are expected.
The police further disclosed that patrols, stop-and-search operations, and intelligence-led raids have been intensified to deter criminal elements and maintain public order before, during, and after the celebrations.
While reassuring residents of their safety, the Command urged members of the public to be law-abiding and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station.
It also advised parents and guardians to monitor their wards and discourage them from engaging in unlawful acts that could disrupt public peace.
The Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring a safe environment for all residents and wished Christian faithful a happy and peaceful Easter celebration.
