Russia-Ukraine War: Putin didn’t give order to extend Easter ceasefire – Kremlin
by Don Silas · Daily PostRussian President Vladimir Putin did not give an order to extend the Easter ceasefire amid the country’s ongoing war with Ukraine.
This was disclosed by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.
“Putin did not give an order to extend the Easter ceasefire,” Peskov stated, as quoted by TASS on Sunday.
On Thursday, Putin announced what he called an “Easter ceasefire” from 6 pm (Moscow time) on 19 April to midnight on 21 April.
The Russian leader claimed he had ordered a halt to all combat operations amid the Easter celebration.
In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed to the ceasefire.
Zelenskyy, however, warned that Ukraine would respond symmetrically if Russia violated it.
He also repeatedly urged Putin to extend the ceasefire beyond 20 April, as he specifically proposed a 30-day full cessation of hostilities.
