Bandits kidnapped my brothers, demanded N300m ransom – Zamfara gov, Lawal
by Seun Opejobi · Daily PostGovernor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has disclosed that bandits abducted his brothers and demanded N300 million as ransom.
Lawal, however, said he refused to pay the ransom so as not to encourage their activities.
Speaking in Abuja on Thursday, Lawal reiterated that he will not negotiate with bandits.
The governor said he is ready to fund state police to fight criminals.
He said: “My own brothers were kidnapped in 2019, and these criminals are demanding ₦300 million.
“I told them, ‘Look, I’m not going to pay a dime, if you like, go ahead and kill them’.
“Because if we continue paying ransoms to these people, we are encouraging them to kidnap more people.”
