World Cup: Iker Casillas makes prediction about Spain vs France semifinal clash
by John Owen Nwachukwu · Daily PostFormer Real Madrid goalkeeper, Iker Casillas, has predicted an exciting match between France and Spain when the two teams clash in the semi-final of the 2026 tournament on Tuesday.
Casillas is of the opinion that both Spain and France have only showcased 70% of their capabilities thus far in the tournament and anticipates a significantly elevated performance from both teams in their encounter on Tuesday.
Following Spain’s quarter-final of 16 triumph over Belgium on Friday, the former shot-stopper said on X, “It appears to me that both France and Spain have operated at 70% of their potential. Tuesday’s match will be a different story! An incredible game is on the horizon!”
The match will feature the two top teams of the tournament facing off at the Dallas Stadium. Les Bleus have been in exceptional form throughout the tournament, dismantling their opponents and scoring goals with ease.
Didier Deschamps’ squad boasts the most formidable attack, having netted 16 goals to date, the highest in the competition.
La Furia Roja has adopted a more cautious approach and prides itself on a solid defense, having conceded only one goal in six matches.
Spain has had the upper hand over France in recent encounters, winning their last two meetings in the Euros and the UEFA Nations League.
