APC names Anyim chairman of presidential primary election committee
by Sunday Dennis · Daily PostThe All Progressives Congress, APC, has constituted a seven-member Presidential Primary Election Committee ahead of its presidential primary scheduled for Saturday.
Former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, was named chairman of the committee.
Other members include former Senate President Ken Nnamani, Senator Victor Udo Udoma, Otunba Grace Titi Laoye-Ponle, former Taraba State Governor Rev. Jolly Nyame, and former Kogi State Governor Idris Wada, while Sanusi Musa will serve as secretary.
The development was disclosed in a notice issued by the APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru.
The party also announced the composition of a Presidential Primary Election Appeal Committee headed by former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari.
Samuel Piwuna will serve as secretary of the appeal committee, while former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Patricia Olubunmi Etteh, was named as member.
In preparation for the exercise, the APC further deployed 37 coordinators and collation officers across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Among those appointed as coordinators are Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma for Imo State, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for Kwara State, and Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for Borno State.
Others include Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, former Speaker Yakubu Dogara for Bauchi State, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu for Abia State, and former Senator Phillip Aduda for the Federal Capital Territory.
According to the party, the presidential primary election will be conducted simultaneously across the country’s 8,809 wards as delegates prepare to select the APC presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The exercise is widely viewed within political circles as a move expected to reaffirm support for the incumbent administration.
