Trump orders release of US files on aliens, UFOs after Obama’s comment
by Nana Ismail · Daily PostPresident Donald Trump has directed the United States government agencies to begin preparing for the possible release of official files relating to aliens, extraterrestrial life and Unidentified Flying Objects, UFOs.
Trump made the announcement on Thursday in a post on Truth Social, saying the move followed “tremendous interest” from the public.
He said he wants documents released on “alien and extraterrestrial life, Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), and Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs), and all other information connected to these highly complex, but extremely interesting and important matters.”
Speaking earlier to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump accused former President Barack Obama of revealing sensitive information during a recent podcast interview.
“He’s not supposed to be doing that,” Trump said.
“He made a big mistake.”
However, when asked whether he personally believes aliens exist, Trump appeared uncertain.
“Well, I don’t know if they’re real or not,” he said, adding later that although many people believe in aliens, he does not usually talk about the issue and doesn’t have an opinion on it.
The renewed debate began after Obama spoke on a podcast hosted by Brian Tyler Cohen.
During the interview, Obama joked: “They’re real, but I haven’t seen them, and they’re not being kept in Area 51.”
He added that there was no secret underground facility hidden from the president.
Following media attention, Obama clarified his remarks in a post on Instagram.
He said that during his presidency, he saw no evidence that extraterrestrials had contacted Earth.
Obama later explained that he was referring to the possibility of life elsewhere in the vast universe, not to any confirmed alien encounter.
