EPL: Why Chelsea lost 3-0 to Brentford – Xabi Alonso

by · Daily Post

Chelsea manager, Xabi Alonso, has said his team needs to improve tactically following their 3-0 loss at Brentford on Friday night.

It was the Blues’ second defeat in five Premier League fixtures this season.

Despite playing well in the opening 45 minutes, Alonso’s men conceded three goals after the break.

Jaydon Anthony, Igor Thiago and Fabio Carvalho scored the goals for the Bees.

Alonso told Sky Sports: “Disappointed with the second half, disappointed with the result. This is not how to compete in the Premier League. We were punished.

“At the moment we are not being consistent enough to compete during the whole game, 45 is not enough, you need to compete for the whole game. Each action can be decisive.

“After they score, there is still a lot of game to play but we lost that control and once you concede the second it was very difficult.

“It’s about everything, it’s about tactical things that we need to keep improving and do much better.”
