2026 World Cup: Brazil take decision on sacking Ancelotti after elimination

Brazil have opted to stick with Carlo Ancelotti as their head coach, despite their early elimination from the 2026 World Cup.

The Selecao suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to Norway in the last-16 of the tournament on Sunday.

The result means that their wait for their sixth title continues.

But Brazil’s national team coordinator, Rodrigo Caetano, has said Ancelotti could be in charge for the next World Cup.

Caetano said: “It is now up to us to emphasize the need for a cycle that proceeds normally, with a little more calmness; continuing our work with the coach through the 2030 World Cup while making the necessary adjustments.

“May we have at least a minimum of tranquility to move forward and prepare for the next World Cup.”
