FOUR MEMBERS OF an organised burglary gang have been arrested after a “managed containment operation” in Dublin on Thursday.

At around 10.30am yesterday morning, gardaí stopped a vehicle on the M50 and arrested four men.

Three of these men are in their 20s, and one is in his 40s.

It is understood that this criminal group have used this vehicle in a number of burglaries and similar incidents nationwide.

The car, a silver 2006 Volvo S40, was searched and a number of house breaking implements, gloves, and face coverings were seized.

The car was also bearing false registration plates.

Gardaí have provided a stock image of a similar make and model of 2006 Volvo S40 car, but noted that the actual vehicle has a “distinctive dark grey coloured drivers-side wing mirror and a yellow tax disc holder in the windscreen”.

The four men were arrested at the scene and are currently detained at garda stations in the Dublin Region.

However, it is understood that one man entered the River Liffey in the Chapelizod area while attempting to evade gardaí, while another was arrested in the nearby area.

Meanwhile, gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have seen this vehicle in their area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dublin Crime Response Team (DCRT) on 01 666 9896, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.

A garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
