Gardaí search for male suspect after woman in her 40s found dead in Killarney

It’s understood that the woman suffered a violent death, and that gardaí are searching for a male suspect believed to have fled the scene, who was known to the deceased.
Gardaí and emergency services responded to “an incident” at a domestic residence this afternoon, and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A garda spokesperson has said that gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

“Anyone who was in the Muckross Road area of Killarney between the evening of the 6th and the afternoon of the 7 July 2026 and who may have camera footage, including CCTV or dashcam, is asked to provide this footage to investigating Gardaí,” they further said.
The State Pathologist has been notified, and a post-mortem investigation will take place in due course.
The scene is being preserved to allow a technical examination to take place.
A senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the investigation.
