World of Warcraft: Forever, Planet Azeroth featuring Bill Bailey might be the best crossover of 2026

So, World of Warcraft is still unbelievably popular. That’s despite nearly two decades’ worth of other MMORPGs coming out in an attempt to supplant it, but while Final Fantasy XIV and The Elder Scrolls Online have managed some pretty special crossovers in their time, it’s fair to say that World of Warcraft has them beat with the first Bill Bailey gaming crossover. Or at least, the first one I remember.

World of Warcraft: Forever, Planet Azeroth is a three-part comedic series that looks to explore the world of, well, World of Warcraft, as well as its occupants, inhabitants and landscapes, which sounds pretty darn good to me.

The series has been created to celebrate the launch of World of Warcraft: Forever – a new World of Warcraft game set in a reimagined Azeroth inspired by the original game, where the world itself is the main character and every road leads to a new adventure. Speaking on his involvement, Bill said, “I’ve always been fascinated by the natural world, but nothing quite prepares you for Azeroth. The creatures are extraordinary, the landscapes are stunning and, unlike many other nature documentaries I’ve been involved in, I managed to stay dry and not get bitten by something. It was enormous fun exploring this strange and wonderful world.”

For the series, Bill Bailey has been transformed into his very own World of Warcraft Dwarven adventurer (clearly the best race in the game), and across the three episodes he guides viewers through some of Azeroth’s most iconic regions, from the forests of Elwynn to the frozen wilderness of Winterspring. Traversing Azeroth’s wildest corners, Bill presents a documentary-gone-rogue with Murlocs, Kobolds and many more of the world’s most fascinating inhabitants, armed with little more than his trademark curiosity and razor-sharp wit.

“For more than 20 years, players have fallen in love with Azeroth itself – its landscapes, mysteries, creatures, and the stories hidden around every corner,” said Holly Longdale, executive producer of World of Warcraft. “World of Warcraft: Forever is our chance to revisit that world through fresh eyes and World of Warcraft: Planet Azeroth captures that spirit perfectly. Bill’s curiosity, humour, and genuine sense of wonder make him the ideal guide to a world that has been home to millions of players, while also providing a warm introduction for those discovering Azeroth for the very first time.”

You can watch episode 1 of World of Warcraft: Planet Azeroth now on the World of Warcraft official YouTube channel. Episode 2 will be published on 31 October and Episode 3 on 8 November.

As everyone should know, Bill Bailey is one of the best comedians we have, and frankly, anything he does is worth watching. So, I’d suggest watching this right now. Just in case he goes away. Go on, off you go.
