Lalu Prasad rejects BJP’s claim of forming government in Bihar post Delhi election results
Mr. Prasad claimed that there would be no impact in Bihar and BJP would be thrown out. He added that BJP cannot form the government in Bihar as long as we (RJD) are here.
by Amit Bhelari · The HinduRashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Prasad on Thursday (January 13, 2025) categorically rejected the claims of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to form government in Bihar post Delhi Assembly election results.
Responding to the query with regard to impact of Delhi Assembly election in Bihar as claimed by the BJP that similar results would be visible in Bihar when Assembly election is scheduled in October-November.
“There would be no impact in Bihar, they would be thrown out,” Mr. Prasad told the media outside the 10, Circular Road, the official residence of former Chief Minister of Bihar Rabri Devi in Patna.
When media people asked about BJP leaders claiming to form the government in Bihar after Delhi, Mr. Prasad further said, “How will they form the government? BJP cannot form the government in Bihar as long as we (RJD) are here. People have understood BJP and you people as well.”
In the recently concluded Delhi Assembly election, out of 70 seats, BJP won 48 seats whereas Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) got defeated after 10 years in the power with just 22 seats. The Congress party could not even win a single seat in the National Capital.
Ever since, Delhi results have been announced several National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders of Bihar and national level have expressed confidence that after Delhi, Bihar is the next where the saffron party will form the government.
Union Minister and founder of Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) Jitan Manjhi had posted a message on social media platform ‘X’ claiming that Delhi was the trailer and Bihar yet to come.
Similarly, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Samrat Choudhary had claimed that NDA will get more than 200 seats in Bihar due to the development work of Prime Minister and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He had added that Arvind Kejriwal had brought Delhi to the same plight in terms of roads and electricity, where Bihar was in the rule of Lalu Prasad.
Janata Dal -(United) state president Umesh Kushwaha had claimed that the fate of RJD in Bihar will be even worse than the political fate of AAP in Delhi elections because the political character and conduct of both the parties are similar.
Asked about who will form the government in Bihar, Mr. Prasad asserted, “Tejashwi Yadav will form the government.”
When results were announced Tejashwi too had reacted to it saying that Bihar is a different State altogether and BJP will have to understand this.
Reacting to the RJD chief’s statement, JD-(U) MLC and spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said, “Lalu Prasad ji, your son has declared you unfit for politics. Now you are in the fourth stage of your life. History has witnessed how badly RJD performed in 2010. Once again in 2025, RJD will face the same fate and NDA will win 225 seats and form the government under the leadership of Nitish Kumar ji.”
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha too reacted on Mr. Prasad’s claim saying that NDA will surely form the government in Bihar.
“It is not certain whether Lalu Prasad will exist or not but one thing is certain that NDA will come back again. There is no need for a person like Lalu Prasad who destroyed the state and is deeply rooted in corruption,” Mr. Sinha alleged.
