Primary school teacher held for sexually harassing students in Namakkal

Parents had complained about the teacher’s behaviour

A 52-year-old teacher at a government primary school in Namakkal district was arrested on Thursday on charges of sexually harassing girl students at the school.

Parents had complained about the teacher, Selvakumar, alleging inappropriate behaviour toward students. Following this, officials from the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) conducted an inquiry at the school. Officials said the charges were found to be true, after which a complaint was lodged, leading to Selvakumar’s arrest.

Physiotherapist held

Similarly, a physiotherapist in Kumarapalayam was also arrested for sexually harassing a 22-year-old student. Kannan, 35, who provides treatment to students with disabilities at a government school, reportedly asked one of this patients to visit the hospital where he misbehaved with her. Based on a complaint, the Kumarapalayam police arrested him.
