400 kg ganja seized, two held in ASR district

The Pedabayalu police arrested two persons while they were allegedly transporting about 398 kg ganja at Panneda Junction in Alluri Sitharama Raju district on Friday.

Upon credible information, a team led by Sub-Inspector K. Ramana conducted vehicle checks at Panneda Junction in Srikari panchayat, where they intercepted a car, in which which two persons were transporting the ganja. Among the two arrested, one is from Tirupati district, while other is from ASR district, SI Ramana said.

The seized value of ganja is about ₹20 lakh in ASR district, but it could be around ₹40 lakh in some northern States, the police officials said.
