Former DGP Om Prakash’s wife called friend and claimed she killed him

Former Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG & IGP) Om Prakash’s wife Pallavi has now emerged as the key suspect in his murder.

In a dramatic turn of events, on Sunday (April 20, 2025) evening around 4 p.m., Pallavi reportedly made a video call to the wife of another retired IPS officer from the State, to whom she was close to, and claimed she had killed “the monster”.

The friend, in turn, called the police and alerted them to the crime. H.S.R. Layout police rushed to the former Director General and Inspector General of Police’s residence, to find him lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab injuries in his living room. He was stabbed over 10 times in his abdomen, chest and hands, police sources said.

The couple did not enjoy a cordial relationship, and Pallavi was also reportedly under treatment for mental health issues, police sources said. However, they added that only an investigation would establish the motive, trigger, and the sequence of events that led to the retired bureaucrat’s death.

Meanwhile, the couple’s daughter was also at the house when the incident happened.

Disturbing messages days ago 

A few days ago, Pallavi posted a series of messages on a WhatsApp group, claiming Om Prakash was trying to kill her and was drugging her daughter as well.

In a series of messages, accessed by The Hindu, Pallavi alleges that Om Prakash had been poisoning her and her daughter by adding insulin, sanitiser, and other “biochemical weapons” to food, water, and air, and even food obtained from delivery platforms was being adulterated. She claimed her husband had been carrying out these attacks through househelps. She claimed that he had been drugging and targeting her “daughter’s brain” after she started raising her voice. She also claimed that her husband used to brand anyone against him “mentally unstable”.

She said Om Prakash would be responsible for anything that happens to her or her daughter. She claimed all the junior officers of Karnataka Police were bought and appealed to take suo motu action. She even alleged Om Prakash had terrorist links, was a “PFI member” and urged that this should be brought to the notice of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

Sources in the know said that these messages were not taken seriously, as these were not the first time she made such claims and allegations and people knew that she was under treatment.
